Andrew Rotherham is Co-founder and Co-director of Education Sector, an independent national education policy think tank. Rotherham, one of the nation's leading education policy analysts, is also a member of the Virginia State Board of Education, author of the blog Eduwonk.com, and a senior fellow at the Progressive Policy Institute.
Rotherham was born and raised in Virginia and educated in Virginia's public schools and universities. He earned a bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech, majoring in both history and political science. He was recently named a recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from Virginia Tech. He also holds a master's degree in education from the University of Virginia and is currently completing a doctorate in political science from the University of Virginia. He lives in Earlysville, Virginia, with his wife, Julie, a public high school English teacher.
