About John Alford

John Alford is a consultant for New Schools for New Orleans from the National Alliance of Public Charter Schools. In his previous work, John served as the National Director of Trailblazing for the KIPP Foundation, launching over 30 schools nationwide over a four-year period. Prior to serving in this role, John served as KIPP’s Northeast Trailblazer, where he authored charter applications, recruited board members, identified facilities and interviewed prospective employees for new schools in six different cities in the Northeast. John started his professional career as a supplier development engineer and purchasing buyer for General Motors. Most recently, John taught fifth grade math at KIPP Ujima Village Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. John received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
